We Can Solve It

It is funny that I am starting my blog with an entry about politics. But I suppose that is the times and what seems to be the subject of my conversations with people these days.

Yesterday I was at the Fete in Napa taking pictures of products when I was informed that Michelle Obama and Al Gore would be shopping at the Oxbow Market. Well, I had visions of Michelle Obama expressing interest in letterpress cards in the shop and after our conversation asking me to be the White House artist when her husband was elected.

I got wind that just next door the Democratic fundraiser was going on with a speech by Al Gore. I walked over with Dionne for a looksy. Next thing we know a volunteer has secretly slapped a sticker on us and we are 20 feet from Al Gore as he is speaking. My new SLR camera around my neck seemed to help us get in to the wine fundraiser.

Al Gore's speech was brilliant. The day after the debate to see Al Gore and hear his rally for Obama was exciting. He touched on the environment and congratulated California on their ability to make higher education accessible. Gore has a great website WeCanSolveit.org. Check it out.

I also want to draw attention in the picture to the Obama poster behind Al Gore. Great use of font and a hopeful logo. The dawning of change on America.

After the speech and Gore rushed away to a even higher priced fund raiser, Michelle Obama never showed up. To be honest she was who I really wanted to see.

My first blog entry. I wonder what else I have to say.

I never saw the dawning sun in the "o" before! Very cool. I also like the font, too. Glad you pointed that out.

I must say I'm surprised Gore was brilliant - happily surprised. During the Clinton years, he was one of the worst speakers I'd heard. I saw him speak on NASA when I worked at JPL in the late 90s. But I've always admired the man, and of course deeply appreciate his years of dedication to the environment.

Wonderful first post, LSL!
